Matthias Sonnhoff completed his Bachelor in "Forest Sciences" and Masters degree in "Forest Operations and Forest Utilization" at the Georg-August University of Göttingen. Through working with large and communal forests in Rhineland-Palatinate, Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia, he was able to gain professional experience in the management and administration of forest property. Since December 2017, Mr. Sonnhoff has been working on the organisational development of forestowner-based marketing organisations and their further development under uncertainty in the project "Forest ownership between unified forestry  and competition - Effects of increasing deregulation in the forestry sector" funded by the Eva Mayr-Stihl Foundation. The project focuses on both economical and sociological factors. Both institutional and actor-based factors are considered, especially in the context of interactional relationships, i.e. factors which directly or indirectly influence the actions of actors and thereby have an impact on the organisational development under uncertainty.
