Jenny Lay-Kumar is a post-doc researcher at the Forest and Environmental Policy Group at Albert-Ludwigs Universität Freiburg (Germany). Her research field covers environmental sociology, communication and education. Her phD research is on climate change concepts of young environmentalist groups, focusing collective patterns of knowledge. She works with a qualitative-explorative methodology, linking sociology of knowledge and practice theory. She also does action research on social innovations, e.g. urban gardening, with a focus on how experience-based knowledge is gained and processed. She is also interested in communication on sustainable resource use, as in urban gardening and waste management projects.
Jenny is planning to link research on environmental education and education for sustainable development with a socio-ecological framework.
