Lena Riemann is a PhD candidate at the Chair of Forest and Environmental Policy at the University of Freiburg. In her research she investigates how public communication around the topics forest conservation and forest management can be more effective if directed at specific target groups. The aim is to investigate the "how" of communication and understand what factors make communication effective in reaching a targeted audience.

Target-group specific communication strategies for effective public communication (based on audience segmentation according to sinus milieus, in cooperation with Sinus instute)

Studkombio (Studierendenkommunikation zur Bioökonomie)
The project aimed at informing students across various study programmes (including forest and environmental sciences) about the concept, the opportunities and challenges of the (forest-based) bioeconomy. At the same time, the students learned basic communication skills and developed a social media product, in which they conveyed creatively what they had learned about bioeconomy. PERFORM (Perceiving the forest-based bioeconomy)
In the framework of the Perform project (coordinated by European Forestry Institute) I conducted research on the question how bioeconomy is framed by the German government in contrast to how it is framed by civil society organizations / environmental NGOs.
